Transfer 8 Week 1- Byebye London, Hello Hamilton!

Our time is running out, you can’t push it underground – Muse

Hello everyone!
It was such an eventful week. Last Saturday, I interviewed a 15 year old girl who was going to be baptised on Sunday. She was excited and ready to make a big change in her life. She has had a rough childhood and has been bouncing around various shelters and group homes.
However, on Sunday, she didn’t turn up and no one could get in touch with her. That evening, she called us and told us that on Saturday night, she met a friend and they had an argument and it turned out that her friend physically abused her and left her in no condition to go home that night, much less come to church. We sat there, numb, listening to her. It was so difficult knowing that someone you actually know who’s only 15 and had committed no fault was savagely beaten up to the point of being incapable of walking. It was heart breaking and you feel so powerless.
We talked about why such things happen in the world and we came to the conclusion that everyone has their own agency and its an eternal principle that something even God honours. God knows these things will come to pass but he lets it happen because he values the freedom to choose. Granted, we all have the power to choose but we can’t choose our consequences.

It’s been 6 weeks since I arrived in London, Ontario. So much has happened and now I’m leaving! ): Honestly, I’m really bummed to leave so quickly. We had such wonderful Chinese converts and a sweet apartment. It was fun walking around the University of Western Ontario campus talking to kids. My new area is near Niagara Falls. Its called Burlington and its going to be English work!
I’m sad to leave Chinese work because I felt that my Chinese was slowly improving but I’m excited to see what this new place has in store for me.
Something I heard last week which applies really strongly to me this week was that there are always better things ahead than any we leave behind.
Make it a good week everyone!
